Cincinnati Bell Agile NOC Engineer in Akron, Ohio

Position : Agile NOC Engineer

Location : Akron, OH

Job Purpose :

The Network Operations Center Engineer will collaborate with Engineering and Network Administration to monitor, track, and maintain a regional MPLS network. The NOC Engineer will interact with customers troubleshooting and resolving end user issues in a timely fashion. Perform proactive monitoring to ensure network performance maintains consistency in changing environments.

Essential Functions :

  • Converse with customers on IT/Network related issues and troubleshooting diagnostics.

  • Collaborate with technical services including the integration and collaboration for real-time problem solving, service initiatives, quality control monitoring and correction.

  • Collaborate with Field Services to troubleshoot and resolve network or equipment related issues.

  • Responsible for logging, escalating, and resolving trouble tickets.

  • Position involves contacting customers to follow up on issues to ensure resolution.

  • Responsible for understanding and programming of various switches, routers, and wireless products

  • Monitor services to achieve pre-determined service standards and contracted SLA requirements across multiple client types.

  • Gather and deliver information relating to network outages or disruptions into formalized report.

  • Collaborate with engineering and vendors to schedule and monitor maintenance activities.

Education :

Four years of High School or equivalent

Relevant Work Experience:

0 to 2 years in related field

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of telecommunications services and equipment

  • Ability to problem solve and apply critical thinking skills

  • Detail oriented to thoroughly analyze and document information

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly organized and the ability to multi-task on a daily basis

  • Self-motivated, digging into issues and makes best use of time and resources

  • Experience in a technical organization or telecommunications preferred
