Position : BridgeLink Principal Solution Engineer - CPE Networks
Location : Cincinnati, OH
The following position is specific to BridgeLink, a start-up company within altafiber. BridgeLink will build and operate a WISP (wireless internet service provider) offering wireless internet services to rural counties throughout Ohio utilizing fixed wireless technology.
Job Purpose :
This position reports to the Senior Director of the WISP. This position is responsible for Product Architecture and introducing and managing Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and support systems deployed in the WISP network. Responsibilities include cross-functional leadership for strategy, design, execution, troubleshooting, and continual service improvements.
Essential Functions :
Plan and oversee the implementation of long-term CPE strategies including analysis and selection of new CPE and business opportunities as related to customer equipment; leadership of cross-functional teams within the business in support of new product launches and existing product enhancements and expansions
Leadership and management of development of architecture for turnkey solutions and services, including the design, development, specification requirement formation, implementation and evaluation of short, medium and long-term equipment strategies
Lead life cycle management of Customer Premise Equipment and support systems, which includes new development, defect management, product issues, and support processes
Monitor and review trends in Customer Premise Equipment performance; review deviations from expected product performance; define CPE performance improvement strategies through quantifiable and measurable objectives and establish tracking and monitoring of these solutions
Support the Product Strategy and Finance teams providing input on business cases, annual plans, and equipment trends; collaborate with Finance Department to manage Customer Premise Equipment support annual expense budgets
Management of strategic vendor relationship activities for feature development, issue tracking and driving to solution deliverables
Review and guide team on documentation, such as test plans, evaluation environment setup and procedures, requirement documents, recommended CPE plans, and Visio Diagrams
Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses :
CBRS Certified Professional Installer (CPI) certification required
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or equivalent experience required
Relevant Work Experience :
5 to 7 years in related field
Demonstrated successful work experience in applicable architecture or related industry product architecture required
Experience in engineering, construction, network operations, and/or product development advantageous
Solid understanding of network protocols, firewalls, routers, switching, TCP/IP, and RF coverage
Thorough knowledge of wireless local area networks, authentication, security, and encryption protocols
Understanding of basic financial analysis methodologies necessary

Ability to relate technical capabilities to customer applications
Ability to comprehend technologies in their embryonic stages
Ability to discern technical trends prior to widespread deployment
Specific knowledge in one or more of the following network element areas: transport networks, outside plant configurations, power systems, signaling networks, data networks, number planning, network operational support systems, and network buildings
Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of RF Theory, RF Propagation, Transmission Line Theory, RF Power Measurement and RF Link Budget Analysis.
Subject matter expert on wireless network technologies, standards and protocols (3GPP, Radius, TLS, IEEE 802.11 and 802.16, antennas, amplifiers, base stations, propagation, interference, spectrum)
Demonstrated experience with the wireless network protocol stacks used in LTE/5G networks preferred
Previous job related experience with LTE/5G Network Design, Network Performance Verification, RF Propagation Analysis, RF Interference Analysis, Data Network Capacity Planning a plus
Knowledge of Spectrum Access System (SAS) infrastructure and how to implement CBRS Service Devices (CBSDs) into SAS for authorization
Define and create offerings including architecture, solution design, implementation, validation, support, and solution life-cycle management
Guide and influence technology partner and ecosystem relationships, including CPE vendors, ODMs, OEMs, and software providers
Provide insights to optimize business strategy, tactics, and roadmaps
Working knowledge of the Network and Operations processes
Ability to incorporate financial and marketing concepts to team members and justify proposed system plans
Supervisory Responsibility :
This position does not have employee direct reports but does serve as a "lead" role for others doing similar work
