Position : BridgeLink Solution Architect

Location : Cincinnati, OH

The following position is specific to BridgeLink, a start-up company within altafiber. BridgeLink will build and operate a WISP (wireless internet service provider) offering wireless internet services to rural counties throughout Ohio utilizing fixed wireless technology.

Job Purpose :

This position will report to the Senior Director of the WISP. The role of the Solution Architect is to work closely with the business units to capture, consolidate, and communicate the project-related information to the vendor's IT staff. The Solution Architect is critical in ensuring that the business requirements are appropriately defined, prioritized, and communicated to the fulfillment organization (Vendor IT Staff, Internal Development Staff, etc.)

Through the projects and support provided to the business, the Solution Architect will help the company to achieve the goals and objectives of the business. This position will manage the work of vendors and various subject matter experts.

The Solution Architect is responsible for spearheading initiatives within multiple business units (BUs), as well as serving a lead role within the WISP organization. The Solution Architect Team are the senior technology advisors of their client's organization.

Essential Functions :

  • Support Business Unit organizations on new systems development, major enhancements, satisfying day-to-day requests, and accomplishing their IT objectives in general; this function also includes providing recommendations, requirements development, and project management on information systems solutions - 60%

  • Proactively develop or coordinate development efforts of others to implement information systems solutions to solve business problems - 20%

  • Coordinate, direct, and supervise the work activities of vendors and consultants on IT projects that span a number of applications and/or business units - 20%

  • Approve requests from personnel across the company for assistance with IT issues: problems acquiring data, ideas for enhancements

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build and manage business partner relationships to develop knowledge of their business strategies, priorities, and operations

  • Work with key stakeholders to identify and qualify potential areas of opportunity

  • Spearhead the creation of the IT strategy that directly aligns with the goals and strategy of the business

  • Proactively identify opportunities, issues, and risks associated with delivering IT services to the business

  • Work with key stakeholders to manage any service-affecting outages

  • Work with network wholesale provider(s) to optimize operational and system processes

  • Represent the business unit in major initiatives involving complex solution delivery

  • Successfully interact with IT service providers to facilitate the delivery of services in accordance with the needs of the business and IT, while being cognizant of the business resources and financial constraints

  • Champion the interests, challenges, and constraints of IT to the business

  • Ensure effective and transparent communication between the business and IT service providers

  • Measure and monitor progress at clearly defined points in the IT delivery process for all ongoing initiatives to ensure that they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet or exceed business expectations

  • Track and report on benefits realization and customer satisfaction levels in an effort to drive better business performance

  • Support a positive work environment that promotes exemplary service to the business, quality, innovation, and teamwork

Education :

Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Relevant Work Experience :

8 to 10 years in related field

  • Experience or demonstrated ability to provide customer-oriented IT support and consultative services to internal clients

  • Experience analyzing and implementing IT projects in a team environment

  • Requirements analysis/process flow design

  • Experience with telecommunications, internet service or wireless service operation support systems preferred

  • Experience with the IT systems development life cycle processes on a multi-user system

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and mentor others
