Position : BridgeLink Technician Partner Manager - Install & Repair

Location : Cincinnati, OH

The following position is specific to BridgeLink, a start-up company within altafiber. BridgeLink will build and operate a WISP (wireless internet service provider) offering wireless internet services to rural counties throughout Ohio utilizing fixed wireless technology.

Job Purpose :

This position reports to the Senior Director of the WISP. This position will have oversight responsibility for vendors and/or contractors who will be responsible for nearly all aspects of Field Installation and Repair of internet services. This position will share responsibility for training, assignment, and deployment of field forces for this portion of the process.

The candidate will have a strong orientation toward processes, analytical thinking, and working as a team. A strong customer focus is critical in order to lead the team to peak performance. This segment of the business is critical to Internet services for small business and residential customers. Performance in this role will significantly impact customer experience and retention.

Essential Functions :

Oversight responsibility of vendors and/or contractors to accomplish the following functions for the business:

  • Establishing skill development and determining resource requirements for the technician teams

  • Ensuring on the job safety

  • Expediting escalated repair and installations for Fixed Wireless services

  • Forecasting and tracking budget and performance target

  • Establishing work schedules that meet customer and company needs

  • Developing and tracking budget and performance metrics

  • Assuming responsibility for installation and repair of Fixed Wireless services with accountability to the customer

  • Developing technician training requirements

  • Performing quality inspections and safety reviews

  • Introducing and facilitating the implementation of new company initiatives

  • Developing and presenting a periodic "team performance review" to management in the form of a formal presentation

  • Conduct periodic team meetings

  • Aid in the onboarding of new technicians

  • May be called on to assist in weekend or evening escalated repair issues

  • Manage a tool inventory and budget for the teams

  • Works with cross-functional teams

  • Monitor and inspect vehicle inventory for 5S

  • Work and develop M & P's for processes and standard procedures

  • Identify areas of performance improvement for problem management

Education :

Two years of College or Technical School resulting in an Associate's Degree or equivalent

Relevant Work Experience :

  • 3 to 5 years of experience

  • Must be trained and/or certified in all aspects of outside plant and tower safety, including manhole safety and work area protection

  • Previous experience in a repair organization a plus

  • Previous experience in customer installations a plus

  • Prior experience and /or knowledge of Fixed Wireless, internet or wireless networks preferred

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate technicians

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills

  • Excellent customer/subordinate relationship skills

  • Excellent vendor management skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of Fixed Wireless processes a plus

  • Technical background/experience in Fixed Wireless a plus

  • Technical background/experience in data services, LAN/WAN a plus

  • Good communications skills

  • Basic understanding of the overall network and the services which it provides

Supervisory Responsibility :

This position does not have employee direct reports but does have oversight responsibility for vendors and/or contractors

Work Environment :

Work is typically performed in a remote environment. This position requires 25% local travel. Driver's license required.
