Contract Specialist

Job Purpose

This Contract Specialist position reports to CBTS Associate General Counsel. This individual will facilitate CBTS’s participation in customers’ sourcing processes by reviewing and negotiating customer RFPs in conformance to CBTS Policies, and will support CBTS Sourcing activity with respect to vendors and suppliers. The Contract Specialist will partner with and maintain a major contact role amongst the CBTS Practices, Finance, Regulatory, and Sales. The Contract Specialist ensures CBTS Policy compliance with respect to CBTS Sourcing and Sales, and participates in reporting and analysis activities, training, documentation, and special projects. The Contract Specialist contributes to continuous improvement in processes, practices, and procedures.

Essential Functions

•80% - Sales and Sourcing Support: Facilitates CBTS participation in customers’ sourcing processes by reviewing customer RFPs and T&Cs (and their redlines to CBTS’s contracts) in support of CBTS Legal, CBTS Practices, and CBTS Sales objectives. Contributes to CBTS Sourcing strategy by gathering data, coordinating supplier responses, or identifying potential sources, for example. May also support Sales and Legal with day-to-day one-time sourcing needs. Collaborates with Practice Leads, Legal, Regulatory, and Data Security to ensure compliance to standard policies and procedures, and with Finance to build business cases for RFP initiatives.

•10% - Reporting and Metrics: Maintains monthly internal metrics for CBTS Legal and Sourcing functions.

•10% - Process Improvement and Special Projects: Identify process improvements for cost-saving initiatives. Conduct training in deficient process areas in order to increase productivity. Work with vendors and other functions within CBTS to streamline manual processes and eliminate handoffs. Seek process improvement ideas from internal customers to increase process efficiency and speed. May include analysis to support new system implementations, or developing new savings metrics.

Education

•Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

•Paralegal certification a plus

Experience/Background

•2 to 3 years general work experience

•Previous experience in Legal, Sourcing, Compliance, Purchasing, Accounting/Finance, and/or Inventory Management functions

•Quantitative analysis experience

•Experience in contract negotiations, drafting contract language, reviewing and completing RFP/RFI/RFQ responses

•Understanding of telecom, IT services, recruiting/staffing, and/or VAR hardware businesses a plus

•Strong written and oral communication skills

•Strong interpersonal skills

Special Knowledge/Skills

•Strong understanding of legal contract verbiage. Basic grasp of finance, sales, and customer/vendor relationship concepts

•Experience performing financial and quantitative analysis

•Strong attention to detail

•Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels and functions across the company, as well as external suppliers and customers

•Understanding and commitment to applying project management and quality improvement principles

•Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills

•Ability to manage multiple priorities and multi-task in a dynamic environment
