Cincinnati Bell Manager - Risk Management in Cincinnati, Ohio

Position : Manager - Risk Management

Location : Cincinnati, OH

Job Purpose :

The Manager of Risk Management is responsible for the overall management of corporate risk and the Company's insurance program through the use of risk identification, risk avoidance, risk transfer, and risk retention techniques in order to protect the Company's assets and minimize the Company's exposure to liability.

Essential Functions :

  • Coordinate risk management efforts across all areas of the company (40%)

  • Participate in department planning, forecasting, and budget activities

  • Prepare loss analyses and insurance budgets

  • Identify exposures and recommend mitigation opportunities

  • Assist with the commercial insurance program structure, design, procurement, and performance including various self-insurance programs

  • Work with insurance representatives to ensure property placement and coordination of any project-specific insurance policies

  • Lead, direct and control the interaction between various participants; brokers, agents, consultants, insurers, and other third-party services providers

  • Recommends and/or implements risk management solutions such as insurance, safety and security policies, business continuity plans, or recovery measures

  • Maintain compliance with various local/state/federal guidelines (e.g. annual fire department inspections, fire extinguisher compliance, tier 2 reporting)

  • Risk Financing (20%)

  • Supervise and direct third party contract review including the design, implementation, and maintenance of contract and certificate databases

  • Budget and track insurance coverages, retentions, premiums, premium allocations, and limits erosion

  • Assess the financial performance of insurance programs, including the total cost of risk

  • Assist with mergers and acquisition due diligence, operational developments, as needed

  • Prepare materials, as needed, as requested presentations, to manager regarding critical claim development, loss exposure, and accrual matters

  • Process Risk Management related bills for payment

  • Claims Management (40%)

  • Supervise and direct claims management

  • Maintain RMIS, including data integrity and maintenance

  • Receive and review incident reports

  • Track and participate in litigation and claim resolution strategies, interact with in-house and outside defense counsel

  • Manage TPA and contractor relationships and performance

Education :

Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses :

  • Industry certification(s) preferred, e.g. CRM, CPCU, ARM, RPLU

Relevant Work Experience:

5 to 7 years in related field

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Experience in corporate risk management required

  • Working knowledge of U.S. and global financial risk management

  • Thorough understanding of policies and best practices of risk management

  • Demonstrable leadership

  • Exceptional written and oral analytical and communication skills

  • Exceptional negotiation skills

  • Knowledge of data collection, analysis, data presentation, and statistics

  • Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a team environment, multi-task, establish priorities
