Salesforce Administrator

Job Purpose

Responsible for the administration of the Salesforce platform to solve complex business problems and empower end users to perform their jobs quickly and easily. The resource will serve as a key support resource for IT Business Analysts, internal technical resources, external technical contractors, business leaders and end users. The resource will utilize technical expertise on the Salesforce platform to ensure that industry best practices are followed at all levels of development and deployment.

Essential Functions


•Create and maintain user accounts, profiles, roles, and permission sets in Salesforce

•Map Salesforce hierarchy and territories in response to personnel changes

•Administer both standard and custom objects in Salesforce

•Integration of Salesforce applications with other third-party solutions

•Development of test cases, scenarios and scripts to ensure application quality

•Support of change management for all source and deliverables

•Adherence to established policies and procedures for control and release of code and declarative components

•Build and maintain workflow using Process Builder processes, workflow rules and Apex triggers

•Create and maintain Visualforce pages and Apex classes per Salesforce best practices.

•Functional knowledge of data structure and understanding of how to leverage the tool to meet complex process and reporting requirements

•Evaluate, advise and implement best practices in the integration and exchange of data between Salesforce and other systems including but not limited to Great Plains and PeopleSoft

•Interface with business analysts and technical resources and responsibility for delivery of complete work products

Deployment and Defect Management:

•Handling of internal customer complaints and resolution to ensure customer satisfaction

•Identification of impact of existing product/service changes requested or made by other departments requiring process changes

•Identification of failure points in existing process

•Ensure production support

•Maintain multiple user roles, security, profiles, and workflow rules

•Communication and collaboration with other technical resources and stakeholders regarding status, technical issues and creative solutions

•Analysis and resolution of moderate to complex software problems during development, deployment and support

Process Improvement Project Resource and Training:

•Training of new development and administrator resources

•Training and support of new end users on the application

•Participation as a resource and domain expert for large-scale projects

•Performance of necessary due diligence for all projects

•Completion of assigned project tasks by targeted due date

•Participation with diverse teams to successfully complete projects

•Ability to multitask several projects simultaneously


Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent


•3 to 5 years general work experience

•Administration on the Salesforce Platform

•Applied knowledge of development operations, design and/or development

•Solution Design

•Process Improvement

•Customer Service

•Customer-facing training and documentation

•Project Management

•Financial force SCM & PSA experience a plus

Special Knowledge/Skills

•Certified Salesforce Administrator

•Understanding of Visualforce, SFDC APEX, SQL/SOQL, SOAP and REST techniques

•Experience with Object Oriented Programming

•Experience with the development and integration of Salesforce

•Proven ability to independently perform development, testing, implementation, documentation and updates as it relates to the software and system administration

•Strong customer orientation and negotiation skills

•Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills to both technical and non-technical audiences

•Adept with data analysis, manipulation and transformation, data cleansing and exchange of data into

•Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills

•Strong process improvement and data analysis skills
