Position : Sustainability Director

Location : Cincinnati, OH

Job Purpose

The Sustainability Director will be the central leader for environmental compliance, pollution prevention and sustainability throughout the organization. This position will work closely with all functional areas to ensure the development and implementation of key critical initiatives and practices targeted at improving compliance and reducing environmental impact for our operations globally. This position is also responsible to lead pollution prevention and sustainability initiatives. Effectiveness in this position will require creative leadership, passion in protecting the environment, influence of leadership and to maintain global compliance and drive environmental strategy throughout the organization.

The successful candidate will provide leadership, direction education, and overall strategic guidance of the company's environmental management system, initiatives, policies, regulatory compliance, challenges and opportunities. This position will be accountable to drive continuous improvement through all functions.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as an environmental leader, using visibility of the role, in collaboration with Operations, Legal and Safety leaders, to ensure consistent application and interpretations of the environmental elements.

  • Develop, integrate, and execute strategies, goals, standards, processes and training throughout the operations organization to facilitate global environmental regulatory compliance.

  • Utilize understanding of complex global environmental regulations and programs to support field escalations from other internal stakeholders.

  • Lead, in collaboration with business unit and functional leaders, in development of road maps for each business to attain stated environmental goals in support of the company's corporate compliance and sustainability strategy and metrics.

  • Think big to develop and implement standardized solutions to increase compliance while reducing environmental impact. Leverage synergies across businesses to implement global best practices.

  • Monitor business performance against applicable environmental regulations, programs and standards. Facilitate global regulatory compliance evaluation program to audit ongoing compliance.

  • Support the organizations environmental reporting and compliance efforts including development, collection, verification and reporting of all internally and externally reported environmental data.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years of experience

  • Demonstrated ability to manage through others, facilitation and leadership experience

  • Ability to actively participate in team development, team-oriented processes, and motivate others to do the same

  • Strong aptitude for organization, prioritization, and managing multiple tasks at the same time

  • Strong ethics, values and a passion to preserve human life and the environment
