Job Purpose

The VOIP Engineer III will have at least 5+ years of VoIP architecture, design, implementation and/or operations experience in a mid-sized corporation/ or service provider infrastructures. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated skills in VoIP technologies that CBTS delivers. Candidates should have extensive experience implementing and/or operating the latest network technologies such as VoIP. In this role, you must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral are a necessity. Ability to document processes clearly is of extreme importance. Work closely with Manager and other members of implementation and/or operations team.

Essential Functions

• Lead deployment and/or operations projects and/or efforts (50%)

• Assist and/or deployment and/or operations team(s) with VoIP deployments and/or operations (35%)

o Take direction from senior engineers from the implementation and/or operations team as well as direct supervisor for career training and skill development

• Accurately document deployment processes and project notes (15%)

o Exchange information, verbally and in writing, clearly, accurately, reliably, and timely


Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

Mid-level or higher certification designated by Manager is required for employment


• Experienced VoIP build and support engineer

• Build VoIP profiles in Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)

• Auto Attendant expertise

• Cisco Unified Contact Center Express (UCCX)

• Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise (UCCE)

• 24x7 rotational support or escalation contact

• Advanced Voice and Troubleshooting

• Interface with Cisco Technical Assistance Center for production issue resolution

• UCS infrastructure management

• VMware experience – installation & support

• VMware / vSphere Management / ESXi

• System Backup / Storage / DR

• Call Manager Administration

• Call Manager OS Upgrades

• CUCM device firmware upgrades

• 3rd party integrations – e.g., Vocera, Accessaphone, Polycom

• ScienceLogic EM7 experience or other proactive monitoring tools

• VMware & Cisco desired certifications

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Mentor and develop junior staff members

• Take direction and mentorship from senior staff members, management, project managers, delivery managers

• Demonstrated high aptitude and/or potential for a career within the technology industry

• Desire to work with VoIP technologies

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

• Ability to document processes clearly

• Can rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and meet deadlines

• Can work independently or within a project team

• Strong customer / collaboration skills

• Consultative background in interacting with customers

• Strong verbal & written communication skills
