Cincinnati Bell Principal Information Security Consultant in Remote, United States

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for driving strategic sales and direction for CBTS security products and/or services. The Security Consultant will collaborate with account managers to open communication lines between customers and CBTS for future sales driven through discussions of security management practices, such as governance and compliance, risk assessment, IT controls, policies and standards, process and methodology, and disaster recovery. This position will require interacting with customers to understand security issues and priorities, write policies and procedures, perform audit and risk assessments, and document solutions to improve customer security and disaster recovery programs; in addition, the position requires maturing the internal security program within CBTS. The consultant must demonstrate knowledge to customers around PCI, HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other federal and state regulations. The Security Consultant is responsible for supporting marketing efforts, maturing the security program, and mentoring employees on security practices.

Essential Functions

  • Perform billable hours to customers in security management practices, such as compliance, audit, risk, disaster recovery and business continuity, policies and standards and controls (35%)
  • Develop the CBTS internal security program to follow industry best practices and required regulations (35%)
  • Work with CBTS Product Managers to refine and perfect CBTS security products and services (5%)
  • Assist CBTS account managers to drive revenue and gross profits within all accounts in security management practice by discussing customer security and disaster recovery challenges and identify improvement opportunities (10%)
  • Keep current on industry vulnerabilities, trends, regulations, best practices, and developments (15%)


  • Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent


  • 8- 10 years of technical or consultative experience focused on security

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive Writing Skills; Compliance & Regulatory knowledge
  • Knowledge of the following governing regulations:

  • Payment Card Industry Standards (PCI)

  • Sarbanes Oxley

Supervisory Responsibilities

Leads work teams (assigns, coordinates, and checks work) for employees performing similar work
