Cincinnati Bell Sr. Technical Sales Engineer in Remote, United States

Job Purpose

Sr. Technical Sales Engineers (Sr. TSE's) assist CBTS Account Managers in engaging in new business with new customers as well as grow new business opportunities within existing clients. The TSE's will assist in helping manage the customer sales process including; customer meetings, presentations, technology and solution recommendations, evaluation and POC's, implementation, and proposal delivery. TSE's are responsible for assisting in increasing regional gross margin goals through hardware sales and service delivery.

Essential Functions

  • Assist customers in developing solutions that enable and strengthen their security posture

Work with Account Managers throughout the selling process

Assist Account Managers in growing established customer and developing relationships with prospects across the region

Manage the quoting/proposal process including creation of BoM's, SOW's, and responding to RFP's

Coordinate with Security Sales Rep follow-up sales activities (i.e. evaluation/POC implementation)

Maintain relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance as well as research and recommend new solutions and services

Obtain and maintain top tier vendor certifications (i.e. vendor training, lab days, WebEx's, vendor conferences)

As a 75/25 position, there will be some responsibility for delivering engagements across the region

Tasks include:

Ability to learn new technologies quickly

Ability to deliver short term engagements at regional customer sites

Consultative approach to finding the right solution to help guide the customer to a successful implementation

Sell yourself into engagements within the territory


  • 6 to 7 years of experience
  • Experience in a pre or post-sales capacity within an IT security environment typically gained over 6-10+ years
  • Expertise with two or more of our core Vendor Partners: HPE (Aruba Networks), Palo Alto Networks, F5 Networks, Check Point, Cisco, Blue Coat, ForeScout, Fortinet, Carbon Black, PulseSecure, Proofpoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance: PCI, HIPAA, NIST, ISO, FERC, etc.
  • Knowledge of Security Assessment services and what those entail.
  • Knowledge of Managed Security Services solutions
  • Candidates must have strong presentation, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel within assigned region
  • Ability to mentor Technical Service Engineers for their professional growth


  • Four years of High School or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Industry Certifications such as CISSP, SANS Security, or other security manufacturer-specific certs preferred

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience working in Large Enterprise IT
  • Experience working as a PreSales capacity
  • Strong relationships with security experts within the region and industry
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to work greater than 40 hours per week as needed (including after hours)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
